Privacy Policy
Short version: there are no accounts, and your tasks stay on your device. No sign-up, no tracking, no ads.
Effective October 15, 2026
1Who we are
Productive ("Productive", "we", "us") is a weekly planner web app made and run by Mustafa Ali from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. This policy explains what information the app handles when you use it and what happens to it.
2What's stored, and where
Productive has no accounts and works entirely in your web browser. This is a deliberate choice to keep it simple and private. Everything below is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. It isn't sent to us, and we have no way to see it.
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Your tasks: title, day, time, status, category, priority, location and notes | To show your weekly planner. |
| Repeating tasks: the same details as a task, plus which weeks you skipped | To add them to each new week. |
| Last week's summary: only numbers (tasks done, total) and your most-finished category name | To show the "week in review" card. Replaced every week. |
| Your categories: names and colors | To color-code your tasks. |
| Display preferences: filters, whether earlier days are shown, whether you dismissed the welcome message or weekly notices | So the app looks the way you left it. |
| Error details: the last 10 technical error messages, the time, the page and your browser type | So you can choose to report a problem. They stay on your device unless you report one. |
Reminders (if you turn them on) are created by your own browser on your device. Notifications are shown by your browser and operating system. Nothing is sent to a server, and you can turn notifications off any time in your browser's site settings.
Your browser also keeps an offline copy of the app's own files (pages, styles, scripts and icons) so Productive opens without internet. That copy contains no personal information.
Because this information is stored on your device, anyone who uses your device and browser can see it. If you share a device, keep that in mind before adding private details to your tasks.
3What we don't do
- No accounts, sign-ups or email addresses.
- No cookies.
- No analytics or tracking tools.
- No advertising.
- We never sell, rent or share your information. We don't have it to begin with.
4Third-party services
A few outside services are involved in delivering the app. They receive basic technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) when your browser connects to them, under their own privacy policies:
- GitHub Pages hosts the website. GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses for security and to run its service. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.
- Google Fonts supplies the app's typefaces, so your browser requests font files from Google's servers. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
- Google Maps is used only if you tap a task's location. That opens Google Maps with the location text you entered. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Email is used only if you contact me. The contact form doesn't send or store anything itself. It opens your own email app (or Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo Mail) with your message filled in, and you choose whether to send it. Your message then goes to my Yahoo Mail inbox, and I use your email address only to reply. See the Yahoo Privacy Policy.
5How long it's kept
- Each week's tasks are deleted automatically at Saturday midnight (your local time).
- Tasks planned for future weeks are kept until that week ends.
- Repeating tasks, categories and preferences are kept until you change them, use Erase everything, or clear your browser's data.
- Last week's summary is replaced when each new week starts.
- Error details: only the 10 most recent are kept.
- In a private or incognito window, everything is deleted when you close the window.
6Your choices and rights
- See your data: everything stored is visible in the app.
- Take your data with you: Your data → Download a backup saves everything to a file on your device. Keep backup files somewhere safe, since anyone with the file can read your tasks.
- Erase your data: Your data → Erase everything deletes it all from this browser straight away.
- Delete your data: clear this site's data in your browser settings. This removes all tasks, categories, preferences and error details from that device. If the app ever shows its error page, you can also download a backup or reset the app from there.
- Stop using it: you can stop at any time. Nothing is left anywhere except on your own device.
Since we don't collect or hold any of your personal information, there's nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. If you have a question about your privacy rights, see Contact.
7How your information is protected
- Your tasks never leave your device, so there's no server or database that could be breached.
- The website only runs its own code. A strict security policy blocks scripts from anywhere else, and the app isn't allowed to send data to any server.
- Everything is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
8Your rights in Canada
Productive is run from Nova Scotia, Canada, and aims to follow Canada's federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If you have a privacy question or concern, please contact me first and I'll do my best to help. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
9Children
Productive isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone. All data stays on the user's device.
10Changes to this policy
If Productive changes how it handles information, for example by adding accounts or paid plans, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect, and the date at the top will change. Features that collect new information will tell you clearly before you use them.
