How to use Productive.

Everything you need to plan your week, in about five minutes. Tap a topic to jump straight to it.

1Quick start

Productive is a weekly planner. Each week, Sunday to Saturday, is its own clean page. Every day has three columns: Create (planned), In progress and Done.

  1. 1 Add a task Click New task at the top, or the lime + button on your phone. Give it a name and pick a day.
  2. 2 Move it along Drag the card to In progress, then Done. Or tap the arrow on the card.
  3. 3 Start fresh At Saturday midnight the week clears. Sunday starts empty, with no backlog.

No sign-up, no setup, and everything saves automatically. There's no account to create and no save button. Reload, close the tab or restart your browser and your week is still there.

2Reading a task card

  1. Category: the colored tag and the stripe on the left edge.
  2. Priority: P1 (urgent) to P5 (someday). P1 is solid lime.
  3. Title: what needs doing. Done tasks are crossed out.
  4. Notes: the first two lines of your notes.
  5. Time & location: tap the location to open it in Maps.
  6. "from Tue": the task wasn't finished in time and moved forward automatically.
  7. Arrow: moves the task to the next column.

A red Overdue badge means the task's time passed on Saturday, the last day of the week.

3Adding tasks

There are four ways to add a task:

FieldNeeded?What it's for
What needs doing?YesThe task name.
DayYesWhich day of the week. Days that have already passed are greyed out.
TimeOptionalSorts the task and decides when it counts as overdue. You can't pick a time that's already passed today.
StatusYesCreate, In progress or Done. New tasks start in Create.
CategoryYesColor-codes the task (Work, Gym, Appointment…). Tap + New category to create your own.
PriorityYes1 is most urgent, 5 is "someday". Starts at 3.
LocationOptionalHandy for appointments. Becomes a Maps link on the card.
NotesOptionalDetails, links, things to bring.

Click Add task to save. The board scrolls to that day so you can see it.

4Moving tasks

On a computer

Click and drag a card into another column, or onto a different day. The column lights up lime when you can drop it.

On a phone or tablet

Press and hold a card for a moment until it lifts, then drag it. Drag near the top or bottom of the screen to scroll, or toward the left or right edge to slide between columns. A quick swipe just scrolls the page as normal.

The arrow button

The round arrow on each card moves it one step: Create → In progress → Done. On a Done task it reopens it back to Create. On phones the arrow is always visible; on a computer it appears when you hover over the card.

From the edit window

Open a task and change its Status or Day, then save.

5Editing & deleting

6Reminders

Want a nudge before something starts? When adding or editing a task with a time, turn on Remind me. It's optional and off by default.

7Repeating tasks

Gym every Monday? Team meeting every Friday at 10? Turn on Repeat every week in the task window and it comes back every new week, on the same day and time, even after the weekly reset.

You can have up to 50 repeating tasks.

8The weekly reset

This is the heart of Productive: no backlog, ever. Each week runs from Sunday 12:00 AM to Saturday 11:59 PM.

At Saturday midnight…
The week that just endedDeleted permanently, finished and unfinished tasks alike.
Tasks you planned for future weeksKept. Next week becomes "This week".
Repeating tasksKept and added to the new week.
Your categories and settingsKept.

Don't keep important records here. Because each week is deleted on purpose, Productive is for planning, not for storing things you need to keep.

9Overdue tasks

If a task isn't marked Done by its time, it moves to the next day at the same time. It keeps moving each day until Saturday.

10Categories & priority

Categories

Productive comes with a few starter categories (Work, Gym, Miscellaneous, Appointment, Personal, Study), but you can make your own with any name and color.

From the category row: tap + New category at the end of the row of category chips above the days (on phones it's the + New chip pinned on the right). Name it, pick a color, and it appears as a new chip you can filter by.

While adding a task: tap + New category under the category list. Name it, pick a color, and tap Add category. It's selected for that task straight away.

Click Categories in the top bar (the four-dot button on phones) to:

Priority

LevelMeaning
P1Urgent: do this first
P2High
P3Medium (default)
P4Low
P5Someday: nice to get to

Inside each column, tasks sort by priority first, then by time.

12On your phone

Add it to your home screen

Productive can sit on your home screen and open full screen, just like an app:

Your phone and computer have separate lists. Tasks are saved in the browser you use, so tasks added on your phone won't appear on your laptop. Add Productive to your home screen so it's one tap away (see Bookmark it).

13No account needed

There's no sign-up, no password and nothing to set up, on purpose. Productive is built to be as simple as possible: open the page and plan.

Use the same browser each time. Each browser and device keeps its own planner. Tasks you add in Chrome on your laptop won't show up in Safari on your phone.

14Bookmark it or keep it open

The easiest way to use Productive is to keep it one click away.

DeviceHow
Windows / Linux (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)Press Ctrl + D, then click Done. Turn on the bookmarks bar with Ctrl + Shift + B so it's always visible.
Mac (Safari, Chrome)Press ⌘ + D, then click Add or Done. Show the bookmarks bar with ⌘ + Shift + B.
iPhone / iPad (Safari)Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens full screen like an app.
Android (Chrome)Tap ⋮, then Add to Home screen or Install app.

Or keep it open all week

Right-click the tab and choose Pin (Chrome and Edge) or Pin Tab (Firefox and Safari). The planner stays open in a small tab at the left, updates itself live (overdue tasks move, the week resets on its own), and is always there when you need it.

15Your data, backups & offline

Tap Your data at the bottom of the planner to:

Works offline: after you've opened Productive once, it opens even with no internet, which is handy from a bookmark or your home screen. Your tasks are always on your device anyway.

Print your week: use your browser's Print (Ctrl/⌘ + P) for a clean paper copy.

17FAQ

Where did my tasks go?

If it's a new week, the previous week was cleared at Saturday midnight. That's the weekly reset, and it's on purpose. If tasks disappeared in the middle of the week, your browser's data may have been cleared (see Troubleshooting Contact me).

Why did my task move to another day?

It wasn't marked Done by its time, so it moved to the next day at the same time. See Overdue tasks.

Can I see last week?

No. Past weeks are deleted so every week starts clean. You can look at any week ahead.

Why can't I add a task to an earlier day?

Days that have already passed this week are locked. Add the task to today or a later day instead.

It says "That time has already passed". What do I do?

You picked today with a time that's already gone. Choose a later time, another day, or leave the time empty.

Can Productive remind me about a task?

Yes. Turn on Remind me for any task with a time, and you'll get a notification 15 minutes before while Productive is open.

Do I have to re-add my gym (or any routine) every week?

No. Turn on Repeat every week and it comes back automatically every week.

Can I keep an unfinished task for next week?

Yes. Open it and press Move to next week, or use the Saturday notice to move all unfinished tasks at once.

Does it work without internet?

Yes, after you've opened it once. See Your data, backups & offline.

Is Productive accessible?

It's built to meet WCAG 2.1 AA: all text has strong color contrast, everything works with a keyboard, it respects your device's "reduce motion" setting, and buttons are large enough to tap easily. If something is hard to use, please let me know.

Why is there no sign-in?

To keep things simple. No account means nothing to set up, no password to forget, and no personal data stored anywhere but your own device. Open the page and plan.

Do my tasks sync between my phone and computer?

No. There's no account, so each browser keeps its own list. That's the trade-off for zero setup and complete privacy. Pick the device you plan on most and bookmark it there.

Is my data private?

Yes. There's no account, and your tasks are stored only on your device. Nobody else, including the developer, can see them. Read the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete all my data?

Clear this site's data in your browser settings (often under Privacy → Site data or Cookies and site data). This removes every task, category and setting on that device.
